So we thought we were getting to the end of the problems. Apparently not. Grandpa got out of the Rehab and finally went home on February 27. Doug was there to help until Wednesday morning (March 3). Wednesday afternoon Grandpa was taken back to Emergency for low blood pressure and having a hard time getting his breath. What they found was blood clots in his leg and pulmonary embolisms in his lungs. That precipitated a four-day stay with coumadin treatment to thin his blood. He came home on Sunday the 7th and on the 9th went back to the hospital again for bleeding (possibly from coumadin) and observation. He came home the afternoon of the 10th. On Thursday, the 11th, we were at the doctor's office when the physicians' assitant noticed erratic heartbeats and ordered a 24 hour monitor for next Tuesday, March 16. We didn't make it that far. On Friday, after three spells of drained energy, one with fainting and two with very erratic heartbeats, Marj and I took him back to the hospital. On the way he got left-side numbness. He had some tests Friday night and Saturday and an another angiogram has been ordered for Monday or Tuesday as soon as they can get his blood to an appropriate clotting level after the coumadin treatment. They are thinking that they might need to go in and do more with the blockages in his heart that weren't originally fixed OR that he needs a pacemaker to regulate his heartbeat. We won't know until after the angiogram.
ALMOST TEN WEEKS and counting. Please pray for Grandpa.
