Santa Ana School Project

We went to the Santa Ana school to help with an art project to brighten it up.  A 7.6 earthquake in 2012 had caused extensive damage to the school and they had recently finished fixing it.  These are students coming in to listen to a presentation by a famous Argentine artist on keeping the rivers and oceans clean.

The artist painted this painting while he talked, and while 2 other men sang for us and the children.

The artist had already painted ocean scenes on two sides of the school building  and left white fish-shaped spaces for the children to paint.

We helped the children paint their fish and then added some details on some of them to make them more vivid.

A teacher is adding some details.  Wayne's fish is the blue one with the white outline to the right of her head.

When the children finished painting, they gathered to have their picture taken with the artist.

On our way to the airport to return home, the bus driver stopped our bus by the school so we could take pictures of the mural.

The children came running over to the bus and our tour guide told them that we were some of the people who came to help them with the mural on their school.  They waved enthusiastically and  yelled "thank you" as our bus pulled away.
